The Canarian Vice President announced this Tuesday in Parliament the imminent refund of 99.9% of the Special Fuel Tax to transporters, farmers and ranchers of the Archipelago for the month of March.

More than 6,000 companies will soon benefit from this aid, which already reaches a total amount of 4.6 million euros in the month of March, of which 1.8 correspond to the extension of the measure up to 99.9%. This refund, approved on the 25th, will be extended until July 31, so that the professionals included will not have to pay taxes for the acquisition of fuel.

It should be noted that, until now, the Canary Islands already had a 68% refund of the tax, to which was added the 0% IGIC in the Islands, compared to the 21% VAT that is applied in the Peninsula.

"We are facing a worrying moment, with a global inflation that will not be easy to redirect in the short term and that is expected to last throughout the year, according to experts," Rodríguez said.

For his part, the Minister of Finance, Budgets and European Affairs ruled out generalized tax cuts, as he considers them ineffective, and defended the aid agreed by the Government to affected sectors. In addition, the Government of the Canary Islands is also negotiating the revision of maritime and school transport prices, as well as additional aid for the livestock sector.

However, despite inflation, Román Rodríguez pointed out that the archipelago is registering record figures for unemployment and affiliations to Social Security, and hopes that it will remain so in the coming months.
