The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing of the Canary Islands Government has granted 319,000 euros in direct aid to meat producers in the beef, sheep, goat, poultry and rabbit sectors who have been affected by the economic consequences of the invasion of Ukraine, which has generated a considerable impact on inputs, raw materials and fuel, among others.
The head of the area, Alicia Vanoostende, explains that "this line of aid has been designed to mitigate, as far as possible, the increase in costs suffered by livestock professionals in recent months, which has harmed the sector."
Specifically, these direct aids will be distributed as follows: 144,756 euros for beef producers, 49,020 euros for producers in the rabbit sector, 72,670 euros for sheep and goat producers, and 52,410 euros will be allocated to meat poultry farms.
To grant these aids, the mandatory census declarations of producers in the Register of Livestock Farms (REGA) are taken into account. Likewise, these aids will be compatible with others financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
