The Canary Islands Government published this Wednesday the extension of the deadline for submitting applications for the granting of direct aid to self-employed workers and SMEs until April 22. This subsidy is aimed at maintaining activities that have been most affected by the Covid-19 crisis and is aid to cover current business expenses, so the amount granted does not have to be returned.
In total, until today, 2,300 applications have been registered from Lanzarote and La Graciosa, out of a total of 16,200 in the entire Canary Islands, and the number could continue to grow. Initially, the deadline ended this Thursday, but the Government's order states that "there are reasons that advise an extension of the initially established deadline (...) as a consequence of the occasional unavailability of electronic headquarters services."
"Those who have already submitted their subsidy application, but are missing a document or have detected an error, can now enter their file and provide the necessary files," explain from the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, which offers information, links and help tutorials on its website to complete the process. In addition, they remind that anyone who has to resolve doubts can do so by calling 900 909 519 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"To speed up the management of payments, the Canary Islands Government has made the payment of the first 166 aid packages. It is expected that it will execute other periodic payments to the files that are complete and correct, in order to speed up the processing of payments," they add from the Chamber.
