Lanzarote concluded 2023 with the highest level of consumer confidence in economic activity in the entire archipelago.
According to the Lanzarote Data Center, based on research from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), Lanzarote had a Consumer Confidence Index of 86.7 in the last quarter of last year, compared to the average in the Canary Islands of 68.6.
However, a score between 0 and 100 represents an unfavorable perception, while one between 100 and 200 represents a favorable perception, so Lanzarote is also in the negative range of the spectrum.
After Lanzarote, the greatest confidence in consumption is found in Fuerteventura, with 84.1.
La Gomera has 73.1, and Gran Canaria 66.8. In Tenerife, the index is 65.6, while in La Palma it remained at 61.8. The lowest index of all the islands was recorded in El Hierro, with 58.7.
The Consumer Confidence Index is the average of the Current Situation and Expectations Indices. The first measures the economic situation of the household and the Canary Islands, as well as the opportunities to find work compared to the previous six months, and the second collects the perspectives for the six months after.
The average in the archipelago for the Current Situation Index at the end of 2023 was 73.7, while in Lanzarote it exceeded 89. Likewise, the Expectations Index in the Canary Islands was 63.5, while in Lanzarote it was 86.5.
