Lanzarote ended July with 300 fewer unemployed than the previous month, but with 6,000 more than a year ago

The island currently has 17,081 unemployed, which is 54% more than in 2019, before the Covid-19 crisis

Unemployment has fallen in Lanzarote after four months of increases due to the Covid-19 crisis. Specifically, the island ended the month of July with 17,081 unemployed, 300 less than the previous month, which represents a decrease of 1.7%. However, compared to last year, an increase of 54.1% is reflected, since then there were 11,080 unemployed in Lanzarote.

Unemployment has decreased in six of the seven municipalities on the island, with Tinajo being the only place where it has increased. This municipality ended July with 561 unemployed, six more than the previous month. For its part, Arrecife registered the largest decrease, ending the month with 8,699 unemployed, 117 less than in June.

Haría ended July with 561 unemployed, ten less than the previous month; San Bartolomé did so with 1,894, 70 less than in June; and Teguise with 1,692, 44 less. As for Tías, it had 1,913 unemployed at the end of July, 27 less than the previous month; while Yaiza closed the month with 1,806 unemployed, 38 less than in June.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, unemployment has decreased by 4,065 people, 1.55%, with the number of unemployed standing at 257,649. Unemployment has also decreased in Spain as a whole, specifically by 89,849 people (2.33%), so that the total number of registered unemployed is 3,773,034.
