Nearly 4.5 million passengers, out of the more than 24 million who took a flight, have suffered delays at Spanish airports during the first quarter, according to a report presented by AirHelp, a technology company that helps passengers deal with delays and cancellations.
The report specifies that Lanzarote Airport is the second least punctual in Spain. It obtained a punctuality percentage of 73.6%, while the least punctual in the country is Tenerife South with 72.7%.
After César Manrique, the third airport with the most delays in Spain is Gran Canaria, which obtained a rate of 73.7%.
In contrast, passengers departing from Menorca have been the luckiest, with 94.3% of their flights departing on time.
Next, the airport of Melilla, followed by Granada-Jaén, which achieved a punctuality rate of 92.3% and 90.4%, respectively.
And all this in a quarter in which Spain has experienced a considerable reduction in the level of flights and passengers compared to last year.
For example, this 2025, nearly 180,000 flights have been registered compared to 200,000 in 2024, which represents 10% fewer flights and 11.1% fewer passengers.
Despite this decrease, the rate of flight disruptions has remained practically stable, even slightly increased -1% compared to the previous year-.
However, according to AirHelp data, the passengers entitled to compensation have increased by 13.16% -from 300,200 in 2024 to 339,000 in 2025-, due to an increase in flights delayed by more than 3 hours.
