Canary Islands is these days at the San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF), with the aim of promoting cinema made in the islands.
Among other multiple professional meetings, yesterday, Tuesday 24th, took place 'Canary Islands in focus', a great networking meeting that brought together a large group of professionals from the Archipelago with prominent agents of this industry in the national and international sphere.
The objective was to have a space where the Canary Islands sector can advance or close, in person, contacts initiated with producers, or take advantage of opportunities that may arise during these intense days within the contest.
During the event, some of the recent Canary Islands productions or those that will be released soon were presented. Among them, the feature films 'La Hojarasca', by Macu Machín and 'To our friends', both produced by El Viaje Films; 'I'm going to disappear', the debut film by Coré Ruiz that premieres on September 20; the documentaries 'A home without closets' and 'Rave Culture', both directed by Eduardo Cubillo; 'Superklaus', the animation project by 3 Doubles that will be released in theaters soon; and the documentary 'The Legacy', by Tourmalet Films, which premieres in theaters this week.
The package is completed with the short films 'Cris', by Jonay García; 'A house in the village' and 'Every day', these two directed by Domingo J Gonzalez; 'Gliese', by Jorge Guimerá (Tinglado Film); 'Salón Dorado: It's not a porn because they won't let me', by Arima León, and 'Queer', by Jonathan Rodríguez (JR Producciones). Of these 13 projects, 7 have had the support of the Government of the Canary Islands for their development or production through its line of subsidies.
The event was presented by the director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries of the Government of the Canary Islands Cristóbal de la Rosa, accompanied by the general administrator of Radio Televisión Canaria, María Méndez and the executive managing director of Proexca, Pablo Martín.
The meeting was attended by prominent agents of this industry in the national and international sphere, including producers, distributors, sales agents, institutions or specialized media, among others.
