The company Canary Islands Car, CICAR, has received the distinction "Friendly to Tourism and Citizen Coexistence 2022" on the night of this Monday, December 5. The award has been granted by the Center for Initiatives and Tourism of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (CIT) on the occasion of the XLI Edition of the Tourism Dean Awards in the Canary Islands.

The CIT presents this recognition in order to stimulate the recipient, CICAR in this case, thanking them for their work, "while serving as an example for citizens by promoting professionalism, kindness, good treatment, cordiality and citizen coexistence."

The distinction was collected by Mamerto Cabrera, CEO of CICAR, the leading company in the segment of car rental without driver in the Canary Islands, who had words of gratitude for the award that has been granted to them.

CICAR offers services in all the Canary Islands and is present in all airports, ports, tourist areas and strategic points of the archipelago. This company is part of the Lanzarote group Cabrera Medina, whose second-generation family structure is constituted by several companies dedicated mainly to the world of motor.

The history of the group begins in 1967, in Arrecife de Lanzarote

Mamerto Cabrera assured that the Cabrera Medina group "is the result of the tenacious and enthusiastic work of my entire family and all the people who integrate it, together with clients and collaborating companies." He also stressed that the key remains "the values instilled by our father: safety and customer satisfaction, kindness, closeness, simplicity and desire to excel."

The history of the group begins in 1967, in Arrecife de Lanzarote, when it began its journey in the world of motor. That year, Don Mamerto Cabrera Medina, a carpenter by profession, and his wife, Doña Nieves Cabrera, vacated the carpentry they owned in a small garage and created a rent a car business, with only five vehicles. With the help of their children, they dedicate themselves to providing services to a tourism that was beginning to take off.

Throughout its trajectory, the Cabrera Medina group has been recognized with numerous awards and distinctions, among which it is worth mentioning the Award of the

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura Press Association, on two occasions; Distinguished of Tourism by the Cabildo de Lanzarote; Best Family Business Trajectory; Isla de Lanzarote Award, the highest tourist distinction of the island; Medal for Tourist Excellence in Business Activity, awarded by the Government of the Canary Islands; and First Prize for the Best Expansion Network in the Canary Islands, awarded by the Chambers of Commerce and the Government of the Canary Islands.

Of special mention is the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands, which was granted in 2014. This decoration is awarded by the Canarian Government as recognition to the natural or legal persons who perform, both in the archipelago and abroad, their daily work or their existence for the benefit of Canarian society.

CICAR is among the top ten companies in the Spanish ranking in its sector, despite operating only in the Canary Islands. Its logo is a creation of the artist César Manrique.
