The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands has published the resolution granting aid per surface area to aloe vera and olive producers of the Community Support Program for Agricultural Production in the Canary Islands (POSEI), corresponding to the 2024 campaign. This line of support is financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF).
The purpose of this measure is to collaborate with the diversification of regional agriculture and the maintenance of soils to prevent desertification, supporting these productions, oriented to the internal market and adapted to the arid zones of the archipelago.
Producers who meet the requirements established in the call for applications benefit from these funds, such as owning a farm dedicated to the aforementioned crop, located in the Canary Islands, and maintaining a regular plantation of aloe vera or olive in production during said campaign, with an area equal to or greater than 2,000 square meters. In addition, the plots and/or enclosures subject to aid must be duly identified in the Geographic Information System (SIGPAC).
In this call, a total of 45 applications have been submitted, of which 39 have been estimated. The maximum unit amount of the aid is 550 euros per hectare for both sub-actions and a total of 39,739.65 euros is paid, of which 4,321.36 euros correspond to the cultivation of aloe vera and 35,418.29 euros to olive trees.
In addition, a 10% aid supplement will be granted to beneficiaries who have received the corresponding aid for the establishment of young farmers from the Rural Development Program (RDP) or the Strategic Plan of the CAP (PEPAC) in the current campaign or in any of the previous four and who maintain said condition in 2024.
The amount to be received will be paid directly into the current accounts that appear in the application of each beneficiary, who have a period of one month, from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Notice Board of the Ministry (March 21), to file an appeal, without prejudice to any other that is deemed appropriate.
