A portable device that identifies the risk of developing breast cancer, a system that generates electricity through plant photosynthesis, or a technology capable of removing microplastics from water, are some of the winners of the eAwards, the technological entrepreneurship awards organized by NTT DATA FOUNDATION that seek startups that put technology at the service of society. Project registration can be done on the web of the eAwards Spain until April 23.

The winning proposal will receive 10,000 euros, and will have access to a personalized acceleration program to get closer to the market and boost their startup. In addition, they will compete as the Spanish representative in the international final of the Global eAwards, scheduled for the last quarter of 2025 in Lima, Peru, the country of origin of Alinti, the winning project of last year, in which they could win an additional prize of 100,000 dollars, around 92,000 euros.

In addition to the prize for the winner, the eAwards provide personalized feedback and connection with experts to the finalists of the national and international phases, this being one of the aspects most valued by the entrepreneurs of previous editions.

Among the novelties of this edition, the finalists will be able to benefit from the services offered by the Madrid City Council for startups; specifically, the possibility of using work spaces at no cost in the innovation center "La Nave" for one year. This is a new incentive for entrepreneurs who want to expand their field of operation or create synergies with other startups.

The projects that participate must be, at a minimum, in an advanced prototype phase; based on technology and be innovative, scalable, sustainable and contribute to improving the quality of life. In addition, they must not exceed one million euros of funding received in the last three years or 500,000 euros of turnover in the last financial year.

After the closing of the registration period, the evaluation phase will begin to select the semi-finalists, who will present their projects to a jury of experts who will determine the finalists of the call. It will be next June when the national final is held and the winner who will represent Spain in the international phase is known.

Decedario, winning startup of the eAwards Spain 2024

The eAwards have demonstrated an indisputable impact throughout their 23 years, boosting entrepreneurs and startups that are already consolidated in the market. In fact, of the 17 winners since 2008, the year in which the competition acquires an international character, 16 maintain their companies in force.

In this context, Diana de Arias, winner of the eAwards Spain 2024, stands out, who, while recovering from a stroke at the age of 23, discovered a series of problems in the rehabilitation process. That is why she created Decedario, a cognitive gym based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that improves the quality of life of people with acquired brain damage, alzheimer's, parkinson's, and other diseases, through play and training at home, thus complementing the health and education system.

Global eAwards 2025

The international final will bring together the winners of the national editions of the award in countries in Europe and Latin America, who will compete for a prize of 100,000 dollars. This final will be held in November in a conference in which the Foundation makes available to entrepreneurs different tools, methodologies and contacts with investors and experts to provide them with greater feedback, connect them with the market and respond to the needs of their startups.
