The Executive Committee of the Air Traffic Controllers Union (Usca), convened by the board of directors, has decided not to go on strike in August after the meeting held on Tuesday afternoon to "not harm the tourism sector." In this way, they keep negotiations with Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena) open.
The president of Aena, Juan Ignacio Lema, had invited Usca to lift "the threat of calling a strike in the coming weeks and opt for the negotiating path" to close the agreement. This Tuesday, the group has decided to clear up doubts about a supposed strike that, according to all public administrations, was harming the tourism sector and its economic weight.
Lema, who had urged the Usca Executive Committee to "make the decision to end this situation of uncertainty now," appealed precisely to "take into account the clamor of the -tourism- sector to put an end to a threat that is so damaging to the economy and employment of our country."
"Aena reiterates its offer to resort to voluntary and independent arbitration to resolve existing discrepancies on working hours and remuneration," insisted the president of the Public Entity "to resolve existing discrepancies on working hours and remuneration."
