The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, the deputy mayor and councilor for Tourism, Mame Fernández, and the councilor for Dynamization, Nerea Santana, visited the La Tegala restaurant in Mácher this Thursday to personally congratulate Germán Blanco on behalf of the City Council, who has just received the award for best chef in the Canary Islands at the Qué Bueno Canarias Heineken competition, held this week on the island of Tenerife.

The Hotel Europe Villa Cortés hosted the jury's deliberation on the 10th, which presented awards to thirteen of the 35 nominees in this edition, including restaurants, individual professionals and special recognitions. And among those awards, the best chef went to Tías. "Germán Blanco Carro has ensured that La Tegala is present in the best gastronomic guides in Spain and Europe and advocates, through his culinary creations, that local products from the Canary Islands are present in his dishes," the City Council highlights.

The jury that supported these professionals as deserving winners of this edition was made up of professionals from the business world and gastronomic journalists from the Canary Islands, including Jorge Fonseca Bueno (president of the jury), Javier Cabrera Losada (secretary of the jury), Emiliano Arencibia, owner of Emicela; Manuel Camarena, general manager of Pernod Ricard Canarias; Pascual Carrascal, general manager of Vodafone in the Canary Islands; Vanessa Santana, manager of the Regulatory Council D.O. Gran Canaria; Carmen García, Marketing and Communication Director of Montesano; Gustavo Rodríguez, director of El Corte Inglés de Tenerife; Félix Blanco, owner and director of Hoalve Tenerife, and Francisco Belín González, gastronomic journalist.

On the other hand, the Consistory highlights that Puerto del Carmen also achieved this Wednesday 14 of the 26 gold and silver plaques awarded by Hecansa on the island of Lanzarote. "It is the area of an island with the most Canarian quality seals in restoration," emphasizes the City Council, which has valued these recognitions "very positively".
