It has been more than 120 years since the famous writer, Oscar Wilde, pronounced his famous quote: "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken." A phrase that at first glance is very funny, but after a second reading, shows us once again the unique and genuine character of the Irish author.

However, unfortunately most of us do not have the talent to be the next Oscar Wilde. Likewise, and no matter how much we search within ourselves, we probably won't find the strength to become the successor to Nelson Mandela, or Coco Chanel. Once we accept that the most likely thing is that we will not make history, it is worth noting that many successful people who have made their personal brand have not known the Internet or social networks. What do we mean by this? Cultivating a good personal brand online can be key in our career, but the real 'product' will always be ourselves.

That is, no one better than each of us knows our strengths and weaknesses. The ideal is to emphasize our best skills and attitudes to become in this way our own 'Employment Launcher'. The founder and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, said: "Your brand is what other people say about you when you're not in the room." For this reason, it is very important to define and identify yourself as a professional, take care of your personal image, as well as act with integrity both in the 'real world' and in social networks.

Similarly, the first step to start with a 'personal branding' strategy is planning. In this sense, the 1&1 digital guide explains some of the advantages that we will achieve after a few months of work: "We will acquire a positive reputation, and some traits that will differentiate us from other competitors. Also, with our profile in networks we will demonstrate that we are able to create new contacts, and we will disseminate our own content".

Equally important for our personal brand is to be attentive to the security and privacy of our electronic devices. The National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE) explained it this way at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona: "the large number of smartphones, tablets or laptops on the current market has triggered that cybercriminals have set their sights on this type of devices." For this reason, there are certain security measures that we can use such as: not leaving our 'smartphone' without an unlock password within reach of anyone, always using hidden browsing, installing an anti-theft 'app', or adding an added lock for the most sensitive 'apps'.
