MZ Hoteles, the hotel division of Grupo Martínez, has joined the United Nations Global Compact as a Signatory partner of its initiative in Spain, being fully identified with its principles.
The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. It currently has more than 19,000 adhering entities, located in more than 160 countries.
Grupo Martínez, through MZ Hoteles, has been the first business group in Lanzarote to commit to this pact, aligned with its strategies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. In this way, it has acquired a high level of commitment to it, becoming one of the partner entities of the initiative.
With the adhesion to this Global Compact, through MZ Hoteles, they renew their commitment to the fulfillment and monitoring of fundamental responsibilities in the areas of Human Rights, Environment and Labor Conditions.
As Carlos Vázquez, director of MZ Hoteles, states, "we believe it is essential to make the United Nations Global Compact and its principles part of our company's strategy, culture and daily operations, and to take measures in support of the Sustainable Development Goals."
Since 2015, Grupo Martínez has contributed significantly to the sustainable development of Lanzarote, through its flagship, La Isla y El Mar Hotel Boutique. This is why the hotel has different certifications in sustainability, such as Biosphere Responsible Tourism, a title that guarantees the sustainable management carried out in the facilities, among others.
Likewise, another of the Group's vacation establishments, Villas Alondra, has recently been recognized as an example in this area at the national level, receiving the Re Think Hotel award in the TS MEDIA category for the Best Sustainability and Hotel Rehabilitation Projects executed.
