Banco Santander, Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria and Chamber of Lanzarote and La Graciosa announce, in collaboration with the Chamber of Spain and the newspaper La Provincia, the sixth edition of the SME of the Year Award of Las Palmas. The objective of this contest is to recognize the work of small and medium-sized companies as generators of wealth and creators of employment in the performance of their daily work.
In addition to the election of the SME of the Year, the jury may grant four special mentions in the categories of Internationalization, Innovation and Digitalization, Training and Employment, and Sustainable SME. The deadline for submitting applications is now open until 0:00 on April 30.
All small and medium-sized companies in the province with fewer than 250 employees and with a turnover of less than 50 million euros at the close of the 2021 financial year that have their registered office in the province of Las Palmas can participate in this new call.
The winning company will compete for the National SME of the Year 2022 Award, which will be announced in the first quarter of 2023. Likewise, the companies winning the different special mentions will compete for the National Award in their respective categories.
How to participate
Interested companies must fill in the registration form that they will find on the website of the Chamber of Commerce of the Chamber of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and Gran Canaria, where they can also consult the rules of the contest.
In their deliberations, the jury will assess merits such as job creation, with special attention to permanent employment; training actions for employees; the internationalization of the company; digitalization and innovation initiatives, as well as sustainable projects in which they have participated.
5,700 SMEs participating since the creation of the Award
The SME of the Year Award is consolidated with this sixth edition as the benchmark award for small and medium-sized Spanish companies. Last year, the fifth edition of the Award, a total of 1,770 companies from the 50 provinces and the Autonomous City of Ceuta registered, and had the participation of 47 territorial Chambers of Commerce.
Since 2017, the year of its launch, there are already 5,670 SMEs that have participated in this contest.
