Within the facilities of the Meliá Salinas hotel in Costa Teguise is a jewel of Lanzarote's gastronomy, the Esencia Restaurant. Located next to the hotel's tennis courts, it has access through the hotel and also through an outside entrance next to Las Cucharas beach. The restaurant, which seats 20, is located in a cozy terraced house, in the Canarian style, and also has a sheltered terrace with sea views.

This is the setting that David Pérez Ruiz, Chef and director of the restaurant, has chosen to offer his haute cuisine creations. In a month's time, he will celebrate one year in charge of this establishment, which offers a careful service with an affordable price for those curious about gastronomy.

David begins his gastronomic education in the Basque Country and later works with Andoni Luis Aduriz, in the prestigious Mugaritz restaurant in Errentería (Gipuzkoa). His style is based on classic culinary techniques to which he adds the innovation and technology that are now so present in this sector.

His menu does not describe the dishes based on the technique, here the ingredients take center stage, always excellent quality raw materials and mostly local organic production.

You can choose between two types of menu; À la carte and Tasting Menu. The latter includes two starters, followed by a fish dish, a meat dish and dessert. The price per person is €37.50 (Igic and drinks not included). As well as the à la carte menu is subject to minimal variations, the Tasting Menu changes every week.

The Esencia restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Closed on Sundays. For more information and reservations, you can call 928 59 09 31.
