The Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands ask the administrations to advance their payments to suppliers

They warn that "it is necessary to mitigate the economic emergency to guarantee social stability"

The Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands are addressing all local and regional public administrations to expedite all their payments to suppliers. "Given the delicate situation that companies and the self-employed are going through in the face of the economic emergency that is coming, it is essential that public administrations compensate for the financial crisis that is going to occur in businesses," they point out in a statement.

For this reason, the Chambers of Commerce have sent formal letters to all institutions to request that "payments of subsidies pending payment be accelerated and that all procedures be put in place so that payments to suppliers are made in the shortest possible time." Likewise, they ask for "urgency to update payments that are delayed."

"In these delicate moments for companies and the self-employed, it is necessary to look for all kinds of formulas to mitigate this economic emergency and avoid as much as possible the dismissal of many workers and the closure of businesses," the Chambers emphasize.

Thus, although they specify that "the first thing is health and we must attend to the health emergency", they add that "we must not forget the dramatic situation that is already occurring in some companies and what that means for the social stability of the islands." In this sense, the Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands, as Public Law Corporations, have already adopted this measure and have approved and signed their payment to suppliers for this month.

In addition, they point out that "as support for public administrations, the Chambers have an open information channel through their websites and are available to companies and the self-employed to resolve any type of query."
