The Government of the Canary Islands will inaugurate this Friday, February 18, the Social and Solidarity Economy Forum, with a first telematic meeting at 9.30, to which all the entities of the social economy of the Archipelago are invited.
The Social and Solidarity Economy Forum is one of the permanent participation forums foreseen in the Canary Islands 2030 Agenda, approved and presented to the Canary Islands society as a whole on December 2 from the tourist enclave of Jameos del Agua, in Lanzarote.
The first activity will include the participation of the general director of Research and Coordination of Sustainable Development, David Padrón, and the moderation of the consultant Marco Antonio Ortega, in an open debate on the role of the social and solidarity economy in promoting the SDGs, the priorities for action and goals of the Canary Islands 2030 Agenda. The session will also be used to identify the training and capacity development needs of social economy entities, as well as the challenges and priority lines of joint work.
In the coming weeks, other specific forums will be activated, such as the Intergenerational Dialogue Forum, with representatives from the fields of childhood, adolescence, youth and the elderly; the Labor World Forum, aimed at trade unions, companies, self-employed and professionals, or the Cultural Ecosystem Forum, among many others.
The objective of these initiatives is that the high level of participation of the Canary Islands society during the elaboration of the Canary Islands 2030 Agenda, which was already distinguished by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, continues to be a hallmark during the phases of implementation, evaluation and monitoring of this comprehensive program. The aim is, in short, to facilitate the participation of specific interest groups in an open debate on sustainable development and the joint search for solutions for the implementation of the Canary Islands 2030 Agenda.
The forum can be accessed from the virtual meetings and webinar section of the Multi-Actor Platform of the Canary Islands 2030 Agenda, which is the name of the collaborative workspace with which the Government of the Canary Islands supports all permanent participation forums.
