The Canary Islands has confirmed this Thursday 94 new cases of coronavirus, reaching a cumulative total of 878 since the beginning of the crisis. In addition, during the last 24 hours another three people have died in the archipelago, reaching 27 deaths.
Despite the harshness of the figures, the increase in positives on this day has been lower than in previous days. In fact, on Wednesday the number of cases increased by 127. Regarding deaths, three were also recorded on Wednesday, although on Monday and Tuesday there were five in a single day.
Of the three deaths that have been added in the last hours, one of them occurred in Lanzarote. The island thus lamented its second death within this crisis. The first was that of a 71-year-old German who resided in the municipality of Yaiza, and this Thursday there has been that of an 80-year-old man of English nationality.
As for the number of active cases in the Canary Islands, it would be around 833, discounting the people who have died and also those who have already overcome the disease. Regarding the latter, the Ministry of Health will not provide data until Friday, since the detailed balance of each day is provided on the following day. In this regard, it should be remembered that the latest data released this Thursday, corresponding to the previous night, indicated that there are 18 people who have overcome the disease on the islands, one of them in Lanzarote.
