Four deaths and 198 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands

Active cases have decreased to 14,649, with 413 discharges also added.

The Canary Islands has registered 198 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, in which it has also had to mourn four deaths.

According to the Ministry of Health, three of the deaths were registered in Gran Canaria and correspond to two men aged 82 and 62 and a woman aged 87, and the other death, of a 67-year-old man, took place in La Palma. All suffered from previous pathologies and remained in hospital.

Likewise, the regional Executive indicates that there was a death that was notified on Saturday in the statistical portal whose information was pending validation, noting that it corresponded to a 73-year-old man who died at home.

The total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands is 90,422, of which 14,649 are active after 413 discharges have also been added. There are 96 patients admitted to the ICU and 400 in the hospital ward, while the remaining 14,153 are in home isolation.

The cumulative incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 86.63 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days at 218.34 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife has added 111 cases and has 8,662 active, Gran Canaria has registered 68 new positives and has 5,498 active cases, Lanzarote has reported 15 new cases and has 194 active, and Fuerteventura has added three new positives and has 239 active cases. La Palma has registered one new case and has 37 active, and El Hierro and La Gomera have not added new positives, having nine and six active cases respectively.

The data reported today represent a decrease of 32 positives compared to last Monday, when 230 new infections were reported. However, with respect to this past Sunday, there is an increase, since then there were 184 new cases that were reported.

As of this Monday, 1,969,164 diagnostic tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 3,168 correspond to the last day.
