The director of the Center for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES), Fernando Simón, assured this Friday that they have acted "well and very quickly" to control the case of the positive coronavirus traveler who landed this Friday in Lanzarote.

Simón asserted in a press conference after the meeting of the Technical Management Committee of the Coronavirus that "this person should not have made the trip", but should have "quarantined" until knowing the result of the test that had been done, although he indicated that there were "some personal circumstances" that explained why he did it.

"Well, I'm not going to comment," said Simón, who acknowledged that it is "very difficult for all these control measures to always be applied to the letter", so he considered that sometimes some "margin of flexibility in specific circumstances" may be necessary.

For the epidemiologist, this is a "clear example of early detection" in which "all the necessary measures" have been taken "to locate him, identify him upon arrival in Lanzarote and take all the necessary measures." "And it has been done in a very few hours, three, four hours," he stressed.
