The Global South Forum Lanzarote 2026 has started this Friday another of its Dialogues, with the visit of Mariano Rajoy (Galicia, 1955), the former President of the Government of Spain of the Popular Party between 2011 and 2018, at the San José Castle.
Rajoy also served as first vice president (2000-2003), spokesperson for the Spanish Executive and minister of different portfolios in the legislatures of José María Aznar at the head of the Government.
The event, initially scheduled for last March 20, was postponed due to the passage of storm Therese and finally has been able to resume this April 10.
At the event, the former President of the Government of Spain Mariano Rajoy will address the main geopolitical, economic, and institutional challenges facing Europe and Spain in the current international context.
His intervention thus joins that of former president Felipe González, of the Socialist Party, and the longest-serving president of Spanish democracy, convened by the Global South Forum last October.
The celebration of this dialogue strengthens the consolidation of the Global South Forum as a reference space for analysis, reflection, and high-level debate, strengthening its institutional projection and its convening capacity.
The Global South Forum 2026 is sponsored by the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Society for Foreign Promotion of Lanzarote and Cumbre 8. Likewise, collaborate Lanis Suites de Luxe, CICAR and the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and co-organizes Lanzarote Media.
