A resident of Lanzarote has filed a complaint before the Health Area of Lanzarote, dependent on the Canarian Health Service, due to the delay he suffered in the performance of a medical test at Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.

According to what he told La Voz, this citizen was summoned by the Urology Department last March 31, at 14:30 hours in the afternoon, in the External Consultations area, to undergo a prostate biopsy. This patient has indicated that although he arrived at the place before time, around 13:30 hours in the afternoon, it was not until 18:45 hours when he was intervened.

In a conversation with this outlet, he/she added that there would be between 18 and 20 patients in his/her same situation. Therefore, when he/she went to administration to show his/her discontent for this delay, he/she explained that they told him/her that his/her intervention was scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the afternoon, although they had cited him/her at 2:30 p.m.

Likewise, he/she has criticized the contradiction of waiting more than four hours in the waiting room for a test that lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. In the letter sent to the Ministry, he/she has also highlighted that after his/her intervention, patients still remained who had also been scheduled for 2:30 PM, and who would have been waiting between five and seven hours.

In the document, he/she has criticized the "serious lack of organization in the management of appointments" and has asked that the appointment protocols and the organization of the operating room be reviewed, that measures be adopted to avoid "excessive delays" and that he/she be informed in writing of the causes that originated this situation.
