The Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, directed by Migdalia Machín, has extended by ten calendar days the deadline for submitting applications for university scholarships corresponding to the academic year 2025/2026. With this decision, the period will remain open until September 21, offering an additional margin that favors a start of the course without administrative setbacks.

The Minister Migdalia Machín highlighted that this extension aims to facilitate the process for students and their families. “Our commitment is to ensure that access to these scholarships is not conditioned by the available time. With this extension, we give an additional margin that will contribute to a start of the course with greater foresight and efficiency,” she said.

The scholarships, announced on August 11 with an allocation of 10.5 million euros, are aimed at undergraduate and master's students who are studying official university courses in public centers, both inside and outside the Canary Islands. They cover concepts such as tuition, residence, transport, family income, academic excellence and functional diversity.

Among the novelties of this call, the possibility of applying for a scholarship after a change of degree stands out, as long as no more than two years have been spent in the previous degree, and the recognition of different specialties in public universities outside the island of residence, even when the degree is implemented in it; and the new amount for academic excellence, which encourages and rewards effort and dedication.

The complete call can be consulted in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands and on the website of the Government of the Canary Islands. In addition, interested persons can obtain information by calling 012.
