Canary Islands adds three new positive cases of monkeypox

In total, and since the beginning of the alert, the archipelago registers 20 positives and seven under study, of which three are probable cases and four are suspected

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands notifies three confirmed cases and two probable cases under study for possible diagnosis of monkeypox since this Tuesday.

This means that, in total, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert, the number of confirmed cases in the Canary Islands remains at 20, 15 in Gran Canaria and five in Tenerife. The three confirmed cases in the last 24 hours have been identified in Gran Canaria. 

All cases are having mild symptoms and, except for one suspected case that is in hospital for another pathology not related to monkeypox, the rest of the people are in home isolation and receiving follow-up from Primary Care.

Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 20 confirmed cases, 15 in Gran Canaria and five in Tenerife; three probable cases pending confirmation, all detected in Gran Canaria; four suspected cases, pending confirmation, which have been detected one in Gran Canaria, one in Lanzarote and two in Fuertentura.
