A tourist reports that the hotel where he spent his holidays in Lanzarote and that was infested with bedbugs only compensated him and his wife with 100 euros. The woman suffered bites when they stayed at the Hotel Beatriz in Costa Teguise three months ago, where two other guests experienced the same experience as La Voz already published.
The guest and, specifically, his wife, who reside in Mallorca, woke up on the first day of their stay realizing that "the bed was full of blood and she had bites." "At that moment we went down to have breakfast and we said it, and at four in the afternoon the room was still not made, so we went to reception and they told us that they were going to change our room because there had been a protocol problem," he says.
After providing the claim and graphic evidence of the bites and bedbugs on the hotel mattress, they have compensated him "with 100 euros for the damages caused." "If I accepted that money, I no longer had the right to claim a larger amount, but I have not accepted it because on top of that I had to buy clothes while they washed mine," he indicates.
"They also informed us that they were going to clean our clothes and suitcases, but I am a doctor, so I already knew what was going on, so I went to the room and found the whole mattress full of bedbugs," he explains.
As a result, the hotel asked him to put all his clothes and his wife's clothes inside a bag, although he says that "he was surprised to have to do that," but he didn't give it more importance. "Then I went to the other room and the next day I asked at the reception to speak with the manager, but they passed me on to the head of reception who apologized, but I don't like to be deceived, if there are bedbugs, then tell me and that's it," he says.
However, the guest and his wife had not yet recovered their clothes that the establishment had taken to wash. "I asked the head of reception where my clothes were and he told me that they sent them to the laundry that day, but around five in the afternoon, the clothes were still not in the room," he assures.
The next day, the tourist asked for the complaint form and the airline with which he traveled indicated that, "until he reached his destination, it was not a complaint, but an incident." "My wife went to the doctor for the bites and they administered a treatment, and then I started the procedures for them to compensate us," reveals the affected party.
The tourist ends by lamenting this bad experience in Lanzarote because, according to him, "it is the Canary Island that he likes the most" and to which he has traveled several times.
