A reader has contacted La Voz to report the delay in the payment of rent assistance granted by the Government of the Canary Islands to those who pay a housing rent of up to 600 euros per month or 700 in the case of large families or family units with people with disabilities. Also people with shared apartment rooms who pay up to 300 euros per month.

According to the woman's criticism, the Canarian Government initially gave a date to proceed with the deposit of these aids in January but "it was only deposited to some people." After that date, "they set another date, from April 1 to 15 as the deadline to deposit the money but we have not received the amount either," she says.

In addition, she says that she is in a Facebook group with more people who have applied for these rent subsidies and that they have asked the Housing Department but the answer they give is that "there have been administrative problems and that it was a mistake to say that the amount would be deposited this month." She also denounces that "they have removed from the website of the Government of the Canary Islands the date they had put in this month of April again."

On the other hand, in the case of the woman, she points out that she was entitled to almost 6,000 euros of aid but that having paid the rent through Bizum, "the council says that this is cash and I only own 1,500 euros," she concludes.
