A tourist complex in Puerto del Carmen has contacted La Voz to denounce the "unsustainable" and "unsanitary" situation that it claims has been experienced "for some time" in Guanapay street in the tourist town.
"The garbage collection point is permanently overflowing with waste of all kinds, posing a clear point of unsanitary conditions and risk to the integrity of people," they point out from the tourist accommodation, from where they also point out that the "liquids spilled on the ground, the slippery pavement and the nauseating odors are the daily bread."
They even state that "the presence of rats and cockroaches has been detected in the surroundings" which, in their opinion, "in addition to a risk for tourists, neighbors, workers and clients", is "a deplorable image of the municipality."
"To access Avenida de Las Playas and cross roads, you must pass over garbage and waste, causing great discomfort and insecurity for all passers-by," they add from the tourist accommodation, from where they say that this "affects the image of the area with the countless protests from residents, clients and workers."
Thus, this tourist complex, which claims to have already contacted the City Council on multiple occasions, requests "the competent municipal and supramunicipal bodies" to proceed "to change the location or diversification of the container area to share the inconveniences of this service among all residents", as well as "the constant and adequate maintenance of the container area, with daily and exhaustive cleaning of the waste." In conclusion, "the improvement of the containers and the collection in general to avoid at all times the proliferation of garbage and dirt in the area."
