A resident of Famara warns that a garbage truck has been trapped on the dunes this Monday morning at the entrance of the bungalows.
According to this citizen, he has been "calling for a week because the entrance to the beach, the entrance and emergency exit, was blocked" by the sand.
However, he has not received a response and has caused this paper-cardboard and packaging collection vehicle to get stuck in the sand.
"We are stuck here today, it's a mess," denounced the citizen who has been waiting for two hours to leave the area. The dune system moves pushed by the wind, so it is common for the sand to move and occupy the road, which is traced on top of the dunes themselves.
Some weeks ago, bus drivers also denounced the problem of sand accumulating on the roads and preventing them from circulating.
This space has been the subject of criticism from citizen movements for the accumulation of vehicles parked on the sand, despite the fact that there are paved areas for car parking.
The increase in vehicles parked on the sand already forced the installation in 2019, in the El Papelillo area, of wooden bollards to prevent parking on the sand. Costas will also study the possibility of installing these bollards in other areas of the beach to prevent parking on the dune park.
