Although Lanzarote is not characterized as a typical place for tapas, it does have numerous restaurants and taverns with a wide variety of dishes to snack on, accompanied by a good wine from the island.

These establishments are located throughout the geography of Lanzarote, so eating in them will not be a major detour from your tourist route. In addition, in all of them you can also taste typical Canarian dishes, such as the famous papas con mojo.

The offer is diverse and changing, so there may be places that have escaped our radar. The following recommendations have been collected by the editors of La Voz de Lanzarote.

1. Primario Gastrobar

In the south of the island, in the Marina Rubicón marina, in Playa Blanca, there is a restaurant that stands out for its intimate and discreet environment, but also for its tapas with traditional recipes, Primarios Gastrobar.

This is a restaurant that seeks to maintain the Canarian identity through its dishes, but with the odd modern touch, as they seek to fuse flavors and colors, with hamburgers, arepas, salads and seafood dishes, such as octopus or salmon.

With an average price of around 20 euros per person, Primarios Gastrobar also seeks to respect the environment with products from kilometer 0.

2. Izaro Taberna

In that same area, in Marina Rubicón, there is another restaurant called Izaro Taberna, with very varied food recipes, where its American-style hamburgers, cheeks, cod or its delicious cheesecake stand out.

However, what really stands out are its affordable prices that do not affect the quality of the products, with an average range of 15 to 25 euros per person.

In addition, before or after eating you can take the opportunity to visit the Castillo de las Coloradas, in Playa Blanca or relax in one of the coves of Papagayo.

3. Vino+

In Puerto del Carmen, the most touristy area of Lanzarote, there are also options for tapas, as is the case of the Vino+ restaurant. This Mediterranean cuisine restaurant, with a wide variety of dishes that include fried squid, tortilla or Serrano ham, among others, is the ideal place for wine lovers.

Vino+ offers a wide variety of wines with Designation of Origin from Lanzarote, as well as from other places in Spain, from reds, rosés to whites, there is something for all tastes.

Eating at this restaurant can cost between 25 and 30 euros per person on average, although everything depends on the amount of wine you end up drinking. In addition, if you want to take some of the products home with you, you can always buy them in their small gourmet product store.

Then you can take the opportunity to take a walk along the Puerto del Carmen avenue, which tends to be very crowded with tourists, or take a dip in its famous Playa Grande, just a few minutes walk away.

4. Casa Tere

If, on the other hand, you are staying near the airport, you can eat at the Casa Tere restaurant, a place where you can eat both Mediterranean and Canarian food, right on the avenue in front of the sea.

It is one of the most frequented informal restaurants by local people from Lanzarote, due to its great variety of fish, meats, as well as typical dishes such as papas arrugadas con mojo, all at very competitive prices, around 20 or 25 euros per person.

Don't forget to try some of their desserts, such as cheesecake, chocolate brownie or tiramisu to put the final finishing touch. In addition, you can always take a walk along its long avenue to lower the food or go to Guacimeta beach to see the planes passing a few meters from your head.

5. La Miñoca

In the capital of Lanzarote is one of the most popular meeting places on the island, La Miñoca, in the Charco de San Ginés. It is one of the meeting points for young people, due to its great variety of dishes, as well as its affordable prices, all in a very picturesque fishing enclave that you can enjoy from its terrace.

In La Miñoca you will find everything from arepas, hamburgers and salchipapas, to portions of fiesta meat, fried cheese, garlic prawns or fresh salads. All this together with a large drinks menu that includes many types of beer and cocktails to end the afternoon, or the night.

Of course, you can't leave the restaurant without trying its famous volcano, a dish with well-loaded sandwiches arranged in the shape of a volcano, surrounded by French fries, sausages and different sauces to accompany, a flavor bomb. The average price for eating at La Miñoca varies from 10 euros to 20 euros.

In addition, you can always stroll through El Charco, go shopping on Calle Real or walk along Arrecife Avenue until you reach El Reducto beach, passing over the Puente de las Bolas and the Castillo de San Gabriel.

El Cochino Cojo

If you are in the northern half of the island, you can stop by for a snack at El Cochino Cojo, in Costa Teguise, a restaurant with varied and quality tapas and pinchos at a price of between 20 and 25 euros per person.

Although from the outside it is not a place that particularly attracts attention, with rustic green and brown furniture that contrasts with the white walls, this restaurant has managed to earn its fame thanks to the quality of its dishes.

El Cochino Cojo stands out mainly for its meat dishes, such as its Iberian pork barbecues, with secreto, sirloin, ribs, presa and chistorra among others, but also for its abundant portions of croquettes, assorted cheeses or broken eggs.

After eating you can always take a walk along the Costa Teguise avenue or take the opportunity to take a dip on Las Cucharas beach, famous for its good conditions for windsurfing.
