Great night of handball experienced this Saturday at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion, with two fanbases that filled the stands to experience the Lanzarote derby of the Guerreras Iberdrola League between CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife and CB Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote. A clash marked by the imprecision of the two teams, with the visiting team taking the two points that were at stake, being better and more focused in the decisive moments of the match.

Inaccuracies in attack were frequent in the opening minutes of the match, with neither team managing to score even from the seven-meter line, the scoreboard reflecting a poor 2-1 in the first ten minutes. Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote took a two-goal lead, a margin that was neutralized by the home side (4-4).

Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote recovered the two-goal deficit in the final minutes of the first half, with Marie Louis scoring from seven meters and Luna Voncina from the pivot, forcing Alfredo Rodríguez to call a timeout (7-9). The score at halftime was 8-10.

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife trailed on the scoreboard throughout the second half, Luna Voncina increased the lead to three goals (11-14), maintaining that lead for many minutes of the second half. After the midpoint of the second half, Andrea Boner and Gema Trujillo brought their team within two goals, and Irene Sánchez saved a seven-meter throw, leading to the thought that the locals were getting into the fight for the points.

Agustina López's performance was key in the following minutes, scoring the three goals for Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote and increasing the lead to five goals (15-20), forcing the local coach to request a time-out again.

Despite the attempts of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, the visitors managed the advantage they had acquired to perfection and the victory was not going to escape them. With the score of 21 to 24, the end of the match was reached, with the sweet potato team taking the points of the Lanzarote derby of the Guerreras Iberdrola League.
