Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote was unable to extend its good run on the eighth matchday of the Guerreras Iberdrola League, falling by 20-24 against Replasa Beti-Onak at the Lanzarote Sports City. The Lanzarote team offered a remarkable second half and stood up to a very high-level rival, but the errors of the first half and the visitor's efficiency ended up making the difference.

The match began with a frenetic pace. The Navarran team struck first, although the sweet potato growers responded quickly and with character, even taking the lead (5-4) after capitalizing on an opponent's suspension with a goal from Gleinys Reyes. Zonzamas was solid in defense and confident in attack, but Beti-Onak adjusted their system and regained control midway through the first period. With a 0-3 run and taking advantage of local errors, the visiting team reached halftime with an advantage (9-13).

After passing through the locker room, Juan Rivera's team reacted energetically. Despite an early exclusion of Nahomi Márquez, the locals narrowed the score (12-13) thanks to the success of Ingrid Roger and the solidity between the posts of Alicia Robles, who kept the team in the game. Agustina López signed the tie at 15 in the 42nd minute, but a new exclusion and the push of Beti-Onak returned control to the Navarre team.

The visitors, led by an inspired Isabel Fernández, author of eight goals, and supported by the saves of Patricia Encinas, opened a gap in the decisive stretch (17-22, min. 53). Zonzamas drew on pride in the final minutes, cutting distances to 19-22, but it was not enough to stop the push of a Beti-Onak that knew how to manage its advantage until the definitive 20-24.

Despite the defeat, Zonzamas showed character, evolution, and the ability to compete against one of the strongest rivals in the championship, leaving good feelings ahead of the next match in which, with hardly any time to rest, they will face Costa del Sol Málaga next Saturday, November 1, on Andalusian soil.
