There was no margin for error for UD Lanzarote after starting the season with three defeats and Josu Uribe's team needed the victory. Against Arucas CF, the "rojillos" showed their best version and were deserving of the three points that were at stake, but they had to suffer to turn an adverse score around in the second half.
After a few initial minutes of probing, Miguel Gómez sent a ball to the base of Ione Puga's goalpost in the 12th minute. The forces were balanced on the field, with Arucas taking the lead in the 32nd minute. A defensive error cost the local team dearly, with Sasha committing a penalty on Abraham. Alex Pipo executed the penalty and established 0-1.
In the second half, UD Lanzarote was a hurricane and turned to the opponent's goal. Zafra had the equalizer after a play by Ayoze Pérez on the left, but his shot in front of the goal went high. Miguel Gómez sent a volley shot from inside the area over the crossbar. And up to two goals were disallowed for the locals due to offside.
The reward would come in the 81st minute. Nando was in charge of executing a free kick from the left vertex, the goalkeeper Ione Puga rejected the powerful shot from the midfielder and Miguel Gómez sent the loose ball into the back of the net. And just three minutes later, Nando's shot from the edge of the area, after playing with Rosmen, went like a howitzer through the entire squad of the goal.
2-1 victory for UD Lanzarote against Arucas CF, which means that the "rojillo" team adds the first three points of the season in the Third Division. The competition will now have a week of rest, and in a fortnight they will visit UD Gran Tarajal.
