UD Lanzarote achieved a fair victory against Arucas CF, although it took more than expected to defeat the Gran Canaria team. The winning goal would not arrive until the 91st minute, when Iván Hujo finished off a free kick taken by Ale Fuentes at the far post. A triumph that allows them to keep their options of fighting for the promotion play-off intact, once again depending on themselves.
UD Lanzarote looked uncomfortable in the first few minutes, with Arucas taking possession of the ball. The first Rojillos' chances came in the 15th minute, with a shot from Nadjib that the goalkeeper saved low down and a header from Iván Hujo that found Robles' glove. Just before half-time, a free kick taken by Nadjib was saved by the Arucas goalkeeper next to the crossbar.
UD Lanzarote's dominance increased in the second half, taking control of the game. A header from Iván Hujo, a shot from Ayoze Pérez from the edge of the area and a corner headed by Raúl were the clearest chances, but all found the good intervention of Álvaro Robles.
The match was dying down and UD Lanzarote found the reward of the goal in the 91st minute. Ale Fuentes was in charge of taking a free kick from the left wing, with Iván Hujo finishing at the far post to send the ball into the back of the net.
1-0 victory for UD Lanzarote against Arucas CF, placing them three points behind CD Mensajero and once again depending on themselves in the final stretch of the season. The Rojillos will play at home again next match, facing UD Villa de Santa Brígida.
