Three Lanzaroteans will compete in the Spanish School Age and Inclusive Badminton Championship

The Technical Directorate of the Canary Islands Badminton Federation has selected 17 players who will compete in the children, cadet, and inclusive categories, in a competition that takes place in the team format.

After an intense badminton season, the Canary Islands are ready to face the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Teams (CESA) in School Age and Inclusive 2026 starting this Thursday. The Technical Directorate of the Canarian Badminton Federation has selected 17 players who will compete in the children's, cadet, and inclusive categories, in a competition that takes place in team modality.

The Canarian Badminton Federation held the third technical training session of the season last weekend, a concentration that took place in El Hierro and that on this occasion was aimed at the players who have been selected to compete in the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Teams in School Age and Inclusive. The training session served to fine-tune all the details for the national competition.

In the children's category, the Canary Islands have been placed in Group D and have as rivals in the first phase of the competition the Balearic Islands, Navarra, and Castilla La Mancha. The Canarian children's team is made up of; Jorge Betancort (Lanzarote Raqueta Club), Pedro García (Tenzul El Rosario), Javier Peña (CB Tenerife), Bruno Lionel Peralta (CD Tiguaneje), Lucía Hernández (Badfor El Sauzal), Nerea Infantes (Badfor El Sauzal), Yareima Morales (CD Pajaritos Playas de Tuineje) and Marta Siverio (Badfor El Sauzal).

As for the cadet category, the Canary Islands will face the Balearic Islands and Galicia in the group stage. The archipelago's cadet team is made up of; David Cortés (Tenzul El
Rosario), Eduardo Curbelo (Lanzarote Raqueta Club), Gerard Hernández (Tenzul El Rosario), Diego Pérez (Tenzul El Rosario), Celia Cabrera (CD Pajaritos Playas de Tuineje),
Alana Isabel Hernández (CD Pajaritos Playas de Tuineje), Ana Samyra Méndez (Lanzarote Raqueta Club) and Nerea Padrón (Auria Bádminton Club).

In the inclusive category, the Canary Islands will face Melilla, Asturias, and Castilla La Mancha. A category for which Sabino Qingfu Blanco (CB Gran-K Top
Spin) has been selected and the team is completed by Jorge Betancort, Eduardo Curbelo, Gerard Hernández, Diego Pérez, Celia Cabrera, Alana Isabel Hernández, Yareima Morales, and Lucía Hernández.

The Canary Islands expedition will be led by the Technical Director of the Canary Islands Badminton Federation, Miguel Barbado, and on this occasion will have in its technical staff
with Ángel Castillo, Roberto Siverio, Alejandro Rostro and Carmen Delia Alonso. In addition, the national competition will also have the presence of the Canary Islands referee Francesco de Paz.

Throughout Wednesday morning, players from Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria have traveled to Tenerife and from there the Canary Islands team flies to Barcelona. The competition in the Championship of Canary Islands of Autonomous Selections in School Age and Inclusive begins on Thursday and takes place in the Palau d´Esports of Granollers.
