The first edition of the second inter-island tournament FITE Canarias Lanzarote 2024 (Canary Islands Championship) of Taekwon-do itfu concludes with 44 medals for the Tanaga Club of Lanzarote. The event, held last Saturday, May 4, was "a success in participation".

The event, organized by the Tanaga Club and the Spanish International Federation ITFU of Taekwon-Do, in collaboration with different official bodies and companies, brought together competitors of almost all ages, from different parts of the Canary Islands who enjoyed Taekwon-Do ITFU with their families.

With the stands of the Lanzarote Sports City with a lot of animation, for eight uninterrupted hours, different types of modalities were developed: tul and pre-established combat, exhibitions and jumps.

During the day, more than 100 athletes from different Taekwon-Do ITFU clubs were present, taking a large number of medals, demonstrating once again the very high technical level of the Canary and Lanzarote athletes in particular.

A historic sporting feat that has never happened in an autonomous championship of Spain of Taekwon-do ITFU, it is the first time that a club has won so many medals in a single championship.

It should be remembered that the Tanaga Club was founded just six months ago and currently has many federated athletes, continuously contributing to Taekwon-do ITFU many athletes who represent the island nationally and internationally.

The Tanaga Club, in this championship, reaped many successes, medals and the main trophies.

  • 17 gold medals (17 titles of Champions of the Canary Islands)
  • 18 silver medals (18 titles of runners-up of the Canary Islands)
  • 9 bronze medals (9 titles of third classified of the Canary Islands)
  • 1 Champion Trophy per Club.
  • 1 General Cho Hong Hi Trophy as the club that obtained the most medals.

The Tanaga Club has thanked the Spanish International Federation of Taekwon-do ITFU, its president Carlos Martín, the athletes, clubs, the referees, judges, members of the organization, the teachers and instructors, the great work done, and all the families, who from the stands enjoyed and encouraged with joy throughout the event.

Thus, the federation and the Tanaga Club presented plaques and diplomas to different councilors of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, sports councilors and companies as gratitude for the collaboration provided for the organization of this Canary Championship of Taekwon-do ITFU.

The success of the Tanaga Club has defended the commitment of some people to "turn the club into one of the best in the Canary Islands, be among the greats of Spain and Europe" and have added that "sports brands represent an unprecedented achievement in the history of island sport"
