On February 26, the Lanzarote Karate Championship was held at the Lanzarote sports city, organized by the Canary Islands Karate Federation and open to the participation of athletes from the Canary Islands, where the Poliarrecife Karate Club won 14 medals (5 Golds, 4 Silvers and 5 Bronzes).
In the Kata modality, Amelie Skiba won gold in mixed cadet, Daniela Medina silver in Female Novel Children and Félix Mateo Martínez also silver in Male Novel Children. The bronze in the Junior-Senior Male category was for Abdalla El Jaafari; in Female Novel Children it was for Famara Quiran and, in the Male, for Marius Sasu; and in the Male Novel Alevín category it was for Danilo Mereu and, in the female, it was obtained by Ashley García.
In the Kumite modality, Amelie Skiba also managed to win the gold, in the Female Cadet Open category and, in the Male, it was for Mikel González. Gael Guadalupe won gold in Male Youth -48, -54, -60, +60 and Caleb Padrón in Male Children -30, -35, -40. In the Female Cadet Open category the silver was for Jimena Padilla and, in the Senior Male Open category, for Abdalla El Jaafari.
On March 5, in Puerto de la Cruz, in the Tenerife Karate Championship, also regional, and where the Arrecife Club traveled with 4 young karatekas, the athletes of Poliarrecife brought four medals (2 golds and two silvers), where the performance of Amelie Skiba stood out, who, as she did the previous week, was champion in the two modalities in which she participated, obtaining gold in both Kata and Kumite.
Amelie Skiba won gold in Female Cadet Kata and in Female Cadet Kumite -47kgs -54kgs. Jimena Padilla won silver in Female Cadet Kumite -47kgs -54kgs and, finally, Alejandro García also won silver in Male Cadet Kumite -52kgs.
And next weekend two athletes from Karate Poliarrecife will be in the Canary Islands Championship up to the Youth category, which will be held on Sunday the 12th in Icod de Los Vinos. Gael Guadalupe in Male Youth Kumite -54kg and Caleb Padrón in Male Children Kumite – 35kg.
It should also be noted that in the Arbitration Course held parallel to the Lanzarote Championship, Mark García, belonging to the Poliarrecife Karate Club, obtained the title of Regional Karate Referee. With this new title, Lanzarote has 8 active referees. 1 International Referee, 4 National Referees, 1 National B Referee, and 2 Regional Referees.
