The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife team, the "Lanzarote European Sports Destination", managed to climb to the second position in the final classification after the second day of the National Sailing League held last Sunday in the Valencian municipality of Altea. A very positive result achieved by the young sailors from Lanzarote, which comes after finishing the three races held by each team in 6th, 2nd and 3rd position.
The Lanzarote team managed to recover from the first race, in which they were penalized due to the two penalties and the offside that forced them to repeat the start and obtain a better result. Currently, they are eight points behind the leader, RCN de Valencia, just one day before the end of the competition.
The light wind present in Valencian lands was the great protagonist of the day, therefore, the boats could only compete in three regattas, some were able to complete four. This Monday, depending on the weather, they will try to complete the qualifying regattas.
Alberto Morales, skipper of the "Lanzarote European Sports Destination", said after his team's participation that "It was a pity the first race today because we finished with a sixth after an offside that forced us to repeat the start, three starting behind everyone we managed to come back and get closer to the leading group but we risked a lot in a maneuver and we were penalized for a very tight maneuver and after the self-penalty they escaped us and we could not reach them. But we managed not to let it affect us and finish the other two races within the first 3 places, which is our goal to be able to finish as high as possible in the final classification. If tomorrow we are not unlucky and we are able to sail calmly, we have a lot of confidence in our possibilities".
Equality is also being a highlight during this competition, in this way, in addition to the rise of the Lanzarote team, several movements occurred in the general classification table during this day. After the aforementioned leadership of the RCN de Valencia and the second place of the "Lanzarote European Sports Destination", the classification continues with the CN Altea in third place, CN Torrevieja in fourth, CN Arenal are fifth, the Catalans of the CN El Balís remain in sixth place and those of the CN de Calpe close the classification in seventh place.
