The children of Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen have been proclaimed champions of the Canary Islands this weekend in Gran Canaria where they have participated in the women's children's territorial phase. The Tiñoseras arrived at the regional championship after being champions in the island final ahead of CB Tahíche and CB San José Obrero.
The aurinegras won in the first instance against the Majoreras of Caima (34-4) and the hosts, Balonmano Rocasa (17-47). In the semifinals they won (40-10) against Be Real Romade.
In the final, also played in the Antonio Moreno de Telde Insular Pavilion, the small great children's warriors of Puerto del Carmen won against Bm. Morrojable (33-18) to be proclaimed queens of the Canary Islands.
Marbelys Reyes has been the top scorer for the Majoreras with 8 goals. In the aurinegras ranks, Martina Lemes and Najara Gabaldón scored 9 goals each to cement the Tiñosera victory, ahead on the scoreboard throughout the match.
In short, a successful weekend for the Tiñosera quarry with the youths of Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen playing the second phase of the Women's Youth State Championship and the children being proclaimed champions of the Canary Islands. This week it is the turn of the Tiñosera cadets who will also participate in the State Championship phase.
