The '44 Cup Calero Marinas' championship returns to put the finishing touch to the season at the Calero Marinas event so that the Lanzarote coast is in charge of proclaiming a new champion this season. Under this great expectation, the presentation of the championship was held at the facilities of Puerto Calero. The nine boats present of the always spectacular RC44 class, which have brought 72 sailors of 17 nationalities to the island, will fight to win the title of this Calero Marinas, especially when the final podium is yet to be defined.

Numerous Olympic champions and prominent names such as Vasco Vascotto, champion who holds the record for world titles with 25 trophies to his name and who will be in the tactics of John Bassadone, in addition to the rest of the crew that will make up the teams of Aleph Racing; Hugues Lepic, Artemis Racing; Torbjorn Tornqvist, Black Star Sailing Team; Christian Zuerrer; Ceeref Powered by Hranstnik of Igor Lah, Nico Poons, Team Aqua of Chris Bake, Team Nika of Vladimir Prosikhinm and Team Sixty Nine; Laurent Déage will compete from November 22 to 26.

With everything to be decided, representatives of public and private institutions who continue to support this sporting event, which allows the possibility of enjoying this RC44 class that will once again leave the characteristic black sails to the Lanzarote landscape, did not want to miss it.

The attendees agreed on the "importance" of having events of this caliber on the Lanzarote sports calendar, with everything that this entails. Thus, José Juan Calero, CEO of Calero Marinas declared:
"We are very excited to have the 'RC44' family for the tenth time on our island. We are going to see the best sailors of all classes in the waters of Puerto Calero. This competition generates a direct impact of more than
one million euros and we will also have them on the island until the beginning of next season, so that impact is multiplied."

For his part, a legendary Vasco Vascotto spoke of the "bond that was created with the Calero family since their first visit in 2007" to Lanzarote and about the "good conditions that Lanzarote offers for regattas", which is an indisputable argument to return to the island. The next speaker was Bertrand Favré, director of the RC44 class, who emphasized "not only the indisputable conditions for navigation offered by the island, but also the commitment of both Calero Marinas and the institutions to this event, offering an indisputable quality" in the organization of these.

Héctor Fernández, CEO of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, emphasized that top-level events such as this are events designed to be within the excellence of the destination. "Destinations are qualified by improving infrastructure and the events themselves," he said. Closing the order of intervention, Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, added his gratitude to the Calero family for their commitment to high-level sailing, bringing events of this international relevance to the island.

The dimension of this 44 Cup Calero Marinas is entirely relevant both for lovers of this sport and for everything it entails. The RC44 competition involves the presence of participants, teams, companions and fans, both local and international, who stay on the island for several days, especially when we take into account that the event in Puerto Calero will be repeated in February, this time as the opening day of the new season for the 44 Cup. Consecution that the participants themselves appreciate, being themselves who emphasize the opportunity to extend the stay in Lanzarote, being able to continue with their preparation sessions
and training in the middle of winter to arrive in the best way to the start of what will be the '44 Cup 2024'.

It is worth remembering the uniqueness of this event, which makes it special compared to the rest and which calls for a large number of fans, so the competition can be followed on the championship website. In the 44 Cup, the owner of each boat will be on board, together with a mixed crew that will have at least one female sailor. In addition, it is worth highlighting the presence of the International Judge, International Referee and International Regatta Official, María Torrijo, who joins a technical team that will have a large local representation.

Only the first event remains, which will take place this Wednesday, November 22, with the first official contact that will be held with the training regatta. It will serve to fine-tune those RC44 boats that will close a sports calendar that began in Oman, in the city of Muscat, on March 1, which then gave way, at the end of June, to the always demanding Swedish event of Mastrand, to compete later in Great Britain, in the town of Cowes, last August.
