“Skolt” and “Buenas Buenas”, winners of the Beach Handball Tournament

El Reducto beach, in Arrecife, was the setting for a new edition of the “Ciudad de Arrecife” Beach Handball Tournament, an event that is part of the sports program of the Fiestas de San Ginés. During Saturday and Sunday, 33 teams passed through the sand of the beach and more than fifty matches were played on the two courts installed. “Skolt” and “Buenas Buenas” were the winners of the senior category of the “Ciudad de Arrecife” Beach Handball Tournament 2021.

The competition began at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at El Reducto beach, with the first day reserved for the celebration of the matches that gave access to the finals on Sunday. The tournament included the participation of teams from the children's, cadet, youth and senior categories, both male and female. A first day that lasted until after nine o'clock at night.

The day on Sunday began with the celebration of the finals of the children's category. In the men's category “San José Obrero” defeated “Ajaches-Chinijos” and in women's the victory went to “Frikis” against “Las Terremotos”. Next, the cadet finals were played, with a victory in the men's category for “San José Obrero” against “Handbatatasbeach” and a victory in the women's category for “Eriskis” against “Las Gaviotas”.

In the category the champions trophy went to the showcases of the “Chambergas” after winning in the final of “¿Quiénes somos Pericos?”. And in the women's category the players of the “Juvenillas” prevailed over “Las Gaviotas”.

The “Ciudad de Arrecife” Beach Handball Tournament culminated with the dispute of the finals of the senior category. “Buenas Buenas” was the winner of the women's, after winning in the final against the “Juvenillas” and in the men's category, “Skolt” prevailed over “Apel Fit”, a match that needed the “shoot out” to decide the winner.

At the conclusion of the finals, the awards ceremony took place, an event that was attended by the Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Roy González, and the president of the Canary Islands Handball Federation, Blas Parrilla. An intense weekend of beach handball that has been experienced in El Reducto.
