Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife faced one of the favorites in the category on Sunday morning, visiting the court of UBU San Pablo Burgos. Despite putting up a fight in the first minutes of the match, the Lanzarote team was gradually surpassed by the quality of the rival, a team that was opening the gap on the scoreboard and went to halftime with a ten-goal advantage.
The match had a lot of intensity in the first minutes, with the defenses showing firm and the attacks ingenious in seeking the best shots to penetrate the opposing goal. Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife established a fierce 6:0 defense, and equality was the dominant theme in the first minutes, with no clear advantages on the scoreboard for UBU San Pablo Burgos.
After ten minutes of the first half, UBU San Pablo Burgos took the lead for the first time with two goals, after a steal and a subsequent counterattack. Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife had more and more problems in attack, not finding a way to open the game towards the wings and making their offensive game too predictable.
UBU San Pablo Burgos took advantage of an exclusion of Javi Aragón to open the gap a little more on the scoreboard, scoring two goals in the two minutes that the Lanzarote team was with one player less. One of them from their own field, taking advantage of the fact that San José Obrero had emptied their goal to play with six players in attack. The scoreboard reflected a 13 to 9 in favor of the locals in the middle of the first half.
The goals began to fall in the goal defended by Javi Santana, and UBU San Pablo Burgos was willing to break the match quickly. The players of Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife began to lose quite a few balls in defense, and two of them were used by the youth player Pablo Gómez to culminate two counterattacks and make it 18 to 11. At the end of the first half, the result was 25 to 15, with the number of goals conceded in the first 30 minutes of play being excessive.
Despite the difference reflected on the scoreboard, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife worked throughout the second half to try to get into the match. The defensive intensity of the Lanzarote team was punished by the referees with exclusions, a circumstance that UBU San Pablo Burgos was not going to miss, increasing the advantage in the first minutes of the period to 13 goals (30-17).
Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was reducing the difference as the minutes passed, but it was not enough to surprise at the Polideportivo Municipal El Plantío. With the score at 39 to 31, the match came to an end, with the Lanzarote team suffering a new defeat that leaves them in the lower part of the standings.
San José Obrero closes the year and the first round of the competition at home, receiving the visit of Club Cisne Colegio Los Sauces next Saturday. A match that will be played at 7:30 p.m. in the Pabellón Municipal de Titerroy starting at 7:30 p.m.
