CB San José Obrero Lanzarote visited the court of Lirón SD Teucro on Saturday afternoon, one of the historic teams of Spanish handball, which this season is in full restructuring phase after being in the elite. The Galicians made things difficult during the first half, reaching a lead of five goals, but in the second half came the reaction of San José Obrero to end up winning by 24 to 29.
San José Obrero Lanzarote was not at all comfortable during the first half of the match. The Lanzarote team lost excessive balls, which allowed SD Teucro to reach a lead of three goals when only 9 minutes of the period had been played, with Xurxo Rivas being the one who put the 7 to 4 on the scoreboard.
After the halfway point of the first half, the advantage in favor of the locals increased to four goals, which caused Iñaki Malumbres to request a time-out (12-8). The expected reaction from the visitors did not occur, with Brais Cerviño scoring a seven-meter shot to put the maximum difference on the scoreboard (13-8).
CB San José Obrero reacted timidly in the final minutes of the first half, which allowed them to reach halftime with options to fight for the two points that were at stake. Diego Fernández and Alexis Rodríguez scored to put the 13 to 10 on the scoreboard and even the difference was reduced to two goals, which forced Teucro to request a time-out. At halftime, the score was 15 to 13.
In the second half, the best version of CB San José Obrero would be seen on the court, that of a team that overwhelms its rivals and leaves no options. The defense of the Lanzarote team began to be more intense, and under the posts Javi Santana made interventions of great merit, despairing the locals who got stuck in attack.
The Lanzarote team barely needed eleven minutes to turn the result around. Goals from Acoidán Martín, Óscar Silva and Miguel Laguna put the 17 to 18 on the scoreboard, forcing the Teucro coach to request the second time-out of the match. And after the instructions from the bench, goals from Óscar Silva, Diego Fernández and Ángel Iglesias put the 17 to 21 on the scoreboard.
Brais Cerviño was in charge of breaking a 0-6 partial against and the scoring drought of his team that lasted for about ten minutes. The reaction of the Galicians was timid, but San José Obrero ended up sealing the match with a 0-5 partial that raised the advantage to seven goals. Rafa Robayna, Miguel Laguna, Ángel Iglesias (2) and Diego Fernández, were in charge of putting the 20 to 27.
At the end of the match, the score was 24 to 29, with San José Obrero adding two new points and increasing the difference with respect to its pursuers. OAR Coruña is the team that currently occupies the third position and is 9 points behind the Lanzarote team after the defeat suffered against Disciclín Balonmano Lalín. The next rival of San José Obrero will be UB Lavadores de Vigo.
