In a key day for the Women's League 2, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence has achieved an essential victory that resonates strongly in the fight for permanence. The Lanzarote team won with authority against Tenerife La Laguna Clarinos by a score of 65 to 41, in a match that stood out for its intense defense and effective attack.
From the beginning of the match, Jesús García's players demonstrated their good work, keeping the Tenerife team from scoring for the first six minutes, while they accumulated a ten-point advantage. The defensive strategy of the locals annulled the rival team's inside game, a tactic that allowed them to build a significant difference on the scoreboard.
The first quarter concluded with a comfortable advantage for Magec Tías (23 to 10), but the second period showed a greater balance. Despite Tenerife La Laguna Clarinos' attempts to find their rhythm through outside shots, the locals' precision in three-point shots maintained the distance on the scoreboard.
The impeccable Verónica Matoso stood out individually, with 100% in field goals and 66% in triples, and Iranzu Drake, whose brilliant performance in scoring and rebounds was key to the development of the game. Aminata Traoré, for her part, tried to keep her team in the fight, but the solidity of Magec Tías was insurmountable.
With the score in favor (36 to 20) at halftime, the second half of the match began with a more active Clarinos, but the quick reaction of Magec Tías, after a time-out requested by Jesús García, consolidated the advantage and sealed the match.
The victory not only reflects the team's eighth of the season, but also represents a firm step towards safety, moving away from the relegation places with three games to spare and four remaining days, plus a postponed game. The most outstanding players of the match were Verónica Matoso (16 points), Iranzu Drake (15 points) and Yaiza García (14 points), with Matoso exceeding 28 valuation points.
The next challenge for Magec Tías will be the visit to Baloncesto Femenino León, currently in fifth position and with aspirations to qualify for the promotion play-offs. This match could be decisive for the aspirations of one or the other team in their different objectives.
