Good news continues for the Lanzarote Raqueta Club, which, after confirming its debut in the First Division - Bronze next January, now has reasons to continue celebrating, as the Spanish Badminton Federation has granted the dispute of one of the days of the national competition on the island of Lanzarote.
A total of twelve national clubs participate in the First Division – Bronze, a competition that is divided into four days. The first of these will take place on January 28 and 29 in Huelva, to later move to the Aragonese town of Alfajarín on February 25 and 26.
The third day of the First Division – Bronze will be held in Lanzarote on March 25, 2023, with the Lanzarote Raqueta Club hosting a competition where, not only will it be a debutant, but it will be the only representative of the Canary archipelago to compete in the League, regardless of the division.
The remaining 11 clubs from Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Castilla y León, Galicia, Aragon and Madrid will travel to Lanzarote in March, adding another historic milestone to Lanzarote badminton, which has had an explosion of growth in recent years to the point of having schools in all the municipalities of the island, and holding high-level sporting events, such as the TOP TTR Nacional in Arrecife held last November.
After the National First Division Clubs League passes through Lanzarote, there will still be one last day, which will be held on April 25 and 26 in Vigo, where the competition will be closed and the teams that ascend to the First Division – Silver will be known.
Miguel Barbado, an experienced coach who performs these functions at the capital's club and who has worked side by side with Carolina Marín, points out that “the teams have a very high level and we are the Cinderella, because we have never competed at the speed they play, but we are working hard and well to be able to adapt quickly with the aim of being a team to take into account for promotion”.
This designation by the Spanish Badminton Federation comes after the good reports collected from the performance of the Lanzarote Raqueta Club in the organization of island, inter-island, regional and national competitions.
The competition next March will be held in the pavilion of the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe, which was also the venue for the TOP TTR Nacional, where the lighting conditions, as well as important factors for the badminton shuttlecock, such as temperature and humidity, make it a perfect setting for the dispute of the matches.
