The wind conditions today, blowing from the N-NE with an intensity of 16 to 20 knots, allowed the celebration of four races that validated the Canary Islands 420 Championship, which required two races to obtain official status. The decision of the Regatta Committee, headed by Justino Núñez, to bring the race course closer to the coast with the windward buoys near land, allowed many fans to follow the races from the avenue.
At 11:00 in the morning, the day began in which the new champions of the Canary Islands, Javier Ojeda and Tomás Bello (RCNGC), won in three of them and discarded a third place to finish as leaders. The victory in the third race went to Andrea Stinga and Gabriel Gallego (RCN Arrecife), who finished second in the overall and in the men's, winners in the mixed category.
The event, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, had the participation of 16 crews, 8 from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, 7 from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and one formed by sailors from both clubs.
In the absolute category, the classification was headed by Javier Ojeda and Tomás Bello (RCNGC), followed by Andrea Stinga and Gabriel Gallego (RCN Arrecife), the third place was for Jaime González and Cayetano Valle (RCNGC). The same podium is valid for the men's category.
The sisters Paula and Isabel Laiseca were proclaimed champions in the girls' category, they were escorted on the podium by Alejandra Pérez (RCNGC) and Mar Betancort (RCNA). The third drawer was occupied by Sara Díaz and Lola Hernández (RCNGC).
In the mixed category, the classification was headed by the crew of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife formed by Andrea Stinga and Gabriel Gallego, followed by Marina Armas and Pablo O. Cabrera from the same club. Pablo Tejera and Cristina Tejera (RCNGC) finished third.
Once the races were finished, the awards ceremony was held in the César Manrique Hall of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, presided over by Julio Romero Ortega, president of the RCNA, who was accompanied by the vice president of the FCV and RCNA, Felipe Brito Cañada, together with members of the Regatta Committee.
