New international success for the sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, registering their name this past weekend in the World Championship of the ClubSwan 42 class. Aboard the Nadir, owned by the Mallorcan amateur Pedro Vaquer, the Lanzarote natives Alfredo González, Rayco Tabares, Héctor González and Federico González, have been proclaimed world champions and a title that they add to the one achieved in 2022 in Valencia in this same class.

Four of the members of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife traveled to Palma de Mallorca last week, forming part of the Nadir racing team. Alfredo González, Rayco Tabares, Héctor González and Federico González, performed different tasks on the boat throughout the competition, and once again demonstrated their mastery in this type of international competition.

The wind conditions throughout the four days of competition were unusual for the Balearic capital, with unstable winds and occasional showers. On the last day, the Regatta Committee decided to bring the start forward to try to take advantage of the land breezes. The Nadir demonstrated great consistency throughout the competition and certified the first position of the Swan 42 class in the two races held on Sunday.

The Club de Vela Port d´Andratx team takes the biggest international trophy in the Club Swan 42 class, and joins the one previously won in 2022 in Valencia, and where the sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife also participated.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, wishes to “congratulate Alfredo González, Rayco Tabares, Héctor González and Federico González for this new international success, which reflects the enormous potential of the sailors of our club worldwide”, and invites them to continue working to achieve new achievements in the world of sailing.

After the ClubSwan 42 World Championship in Palma de Mallorca, Alfredo González set course for Argentina, where the Snipe class World Championship begins this Tuesday, and in which he defends, together with Cristian Sánchez, the champion title achieved in Portugal in 2022. The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife has 10 sailors in Buenos Aires, and the club with the largest representation in the Snipe World Championship in Argentina.
