Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen achieved a new victory this Saturday at the Tías Municipal Pavilion in the morning visit of Agrinova Costa de Almería Roquetas (26-24) in a match corresponding to the twenty-fourth and penultimate day of the Women's Gold Honor Division.
The victory, with two days to go and with permanence already in the bag, leaves Juanmi Pérez's squad in tenth position in the standings with twenty-one points. The Andalusians continue to occupy the bottom of the standings with six points in their locker.
The top scorer of the match and of the Tiñoseras was once again Fernanda Luján Insfrán with nine goals. In the Almeria ranks, Suraia Vicente's six goals stood out.
Match without much significance at this point in the season, with both teams already knowing their destiny with two days left until the end of the league.
Puerto del Carmen began the skirmishes. Penalty missed by Yuyi but goal by Mónica Cabrera in the following play. Almería was not successful in its first attempts, managing to score from a penalty after three minutes of the match (1-1, min: 3:30).
The following minutes passed with offensive errors in both squads, with equality remaining on the scoreboard. Yuyi Insfrán began to reap the rewards by using the counterattack, provoking the first visiting timeout (7-5, min. 12:46).
Juanmi Pérez began to release the bench. Shortly after, an accidental blow to the face of the Almeria goalkeeper meant two minutes for Yuyi and the debut in the goal of Eva Gallego. Puerto del Carmen managed to chain a few counterattacks, the house brand, which allowed them to reach halftime with a minimal advantage (13-12).
After the break, the Tiñoseras appeared with other spirits. Cristina Mazaira began to spread her wings and the attack worked (15-13, min. 5). The match went a little crazy and in the madness the locals floundered (15-15, min.9).
The Betancort sisters were doing damage from the corners, especially Cristina, very sweet in form and aim in recent weeks. Almería held on in the match thanks to Rosa Leal's attacks, but it seemed short. The match was slipping away and a new visiting timeout arrived (24-21, min. 23:17).
Almería drew on pride to narrow the difference in the final stretch and returned the match to a tie with two minutes to play.
Only a stroke of genius from Yuyi that made splinters jump from the Andalusian goal put the Tiñoseras ahead with just over half a minute of the match pending (25-24).
New timeout from Almería that Mazaira was in charge of throwing away. It was Juanmi Pérez who asked for time to try to secure the victory with eighteen seconds remaining. Pérez's board served to finish killing the match with a goal from Dely Leiva (26-24). Sad faces in the Andalusians who saw how the minimum possibilities they had left vanished despite having competed throughout the match. Joy in the Tiñoseras who, despite having achieved the goal of permanence, chain two consecutive victories.
Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen returns to competition on May 17, at 7:00 p.m. (local time), at the home of Lobas Global Atac Oviedo, a team that is third in the Women's Gold Honor Division.
