On Saturday afternoon, Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote faced the first Canarian derby of the season with the aim of adding the two points at stake to remain at the top of the competition. San José Obrero played one of their most complete matches, giving no options to their rivals and displaying an overwhelming game both in defense and attack. A resounding 38-21 victory was dedicated to Vesi Nenkova.

The beginning of the match did not foreshadow the great difference in play that existed in the rest of the highly competitive Canarian rivalry. Central player Mikita Bence put the locals ahead, but Balonmano Ingenio knew how to take advantage of the mistakes made by the San José Obrero players in circulation, losing excessive balls in the first minutes.

San José Obrero's game improved as the minutes passed, and with a very solid defense, they began to steal balls and mount fast counterattacks. The defenders were very successful, blocking many of the Gran Canaria team's outside shots. Goals from Pedro Cabrera, Mikita Bence, and Joel Armas helped put the locals ahead (5-4).

The coach of Balonmano Ingenio was not seeing things clearly, taking only eleven minutes to request a time-out. The locals continued to develop a devastating game on the court, and the difference increased as the minutes passed. Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote imprinted a lot of speed on each of their actions, reaching halftime with a score of 20-10 in favor of the locals.

Far from slowing down the pace of the game in the second half, the Lanzarote team continued to display a great game and gave no options for Balonmano Ingenio to get into the match. As the minutes passed, the difference increased in favor of the players led by Jesús Casanova. All the players contributed their bit to the victory, and all fought to convince the coach.

A second half that had hardly any history due to the wide difference reflected on the scoreboard, and the little reaction capacity of the visitors. With the result of 38 to 21, the match came to an end, with the 7 goals scored by winger Pablo Rodríguez standing out again, many of them culminating in fast counterattacks that originated from the defense.

Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote continues to share the lead in the First National Men's Division with Calvo Xiria, with both teams adding 20 of the 22 points that have been put into play, and four points ahead of Rodosa Balonmano Chapela. San José Obrero will close the year on the court of Bueu Atlético Balonmano, a team that was sanctioned this week for an unjustified non-appearance in the match against BM Tejina.
