Effortless victory (21-37) achieved by CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen at the Municipal Sports Center of Muskiz against Petronor Muskiz Eskubaloia in a match corresponding to the sixteenth round of Group B of the Women's Silver Division.
The match, the second played in two weeks in Basque territory by the Lanzarote team, unfolded from the first moment as expected from a confrontation between the leaders and the bottom team, with CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen in the lead within a few minutes of the match, with the distances gradually increasing, ending with a well-deserved 10-16 at the end of the first half.
The second half of the match only confirmed the evolution of the game, with the Lanzarote team's advantage growing as they gritted their teeth to finish with a comfortable lead in the final minutes of the match.
In the offensive aspect, the work of Suely Pinto Spencer and Grethe Damora stood out with eight goals each, well accompanied by Famara Fernández's seven goals. In the ranks of Petronor Muskiz Eskubaloia, the player Sara Martín scored six goals.
With this victory, CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen maintains the lead of Group B of the Women's Silver Division with 32 points and sixteen victories after sixteen matches played, undefeated and followed with 27 points by Logroño Sporting La Rioja and Atlántico Pereda, who tied at 24 in their direct confrontation this week played in Santander.
The Tías players will host HBC'74 IEN AVIA next weekend in matchday 17, a team that this week won at home against Schär Zaragoza (31-29), a victory that places them in tenth position in the standings, with twelve points, with a balance after fifteen matchdays of five wins, two draws and nine losses.
The Lanzarote coach Miguel Ángel Lemes explained after the match that "the match unfolded as we had planned. There was quite a difference between the two teams and little by little it was noticeable on the scoreboard. Defensively we were good and we were able to quickly counterattack, despite the failures in the shots we went to the break with a comfortable advantage. At the beginning of the second half we pushed a little harder and with a fast game we definitively pulled away on the scoreboard towards the end of the match".
Regarding the next rivals of CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen, Lemes recalls that "the next rival is Camargo, who comes from winning against Schär Zaragoza. In the first leg played in Santander we won 26/29. They are a rival that we have to beat to take advantage of the draw between Pereda and Logroño this week, a result that makes us distance ourselves by five points from the two chasing teams".
Miguel Ángel Lemes now expects a "normal week of training while waiting for the resonance that Mazaira Quintana will have this Monday. Let's hope she's lucky and it's nothing", concludes the Lanzarote coach.
